The second oldest city in the U.S. and the oldest capital city, Santa Fe has successfully preserved much of its 410-year history. To experience 17th- and 18th-century New Mexico, head to El Rancho de las Golondrinas, about a 30-minute drive from the city’s famed Plaza. This living museum, set on 200 acres in a rural farming valley, includes authentic adobe buildings and historic reenactments.
Known for its Pueblo-style architecture, arts scene and borderhopping food, Santa Fe is a vibrant cultural center. We partnered with Ford to create this one-of-a-kind expedition.
The sun shines an average of 300 days a year in Santa Fe, making it a prime destination for tourists while providing plenty of painterly light for the city’s scores of local artists. With a unique blend of Anglo, Spanish and Native American cultures, Santa Fe is brimming with history as well as art and food, all set against a beautiful mountain backdrop.
Modern General
For a more up-to-date experience, check out Modern General, a beautifully curated hybrid of café, market and general store. Fill up on Modcakes, the shop’s reimagined version of flapjacks, before heading out for more sightseeing.
Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi
When the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi opened near the historic Plaza and Palace of the Governors, it was blessed by a Pueblo medicine man, a Franciscan priest and a local artist to represent the multicultural history of the area. The 58-room hotel incorporates local textiles and artwork as well as wood-beamed ceilings and cozy fireplaces.
Santa Fe Opera
The Santa Fe Opera is a quick 15-minute drive north. This breathtaking open-air theater has been hosting world-class opera for 60 years. The annual season typically runs from late June to the end of August and hosts five operas in a rotating lineup.
