Hike to the Seven Sacred Pools, strike a yoga pose on the red rocks, or get a restorative massage at one of Sedona’s luxury resorts. Here’s a cheat sheet to this mystical desert town, about a two-hour drive from Phoenix. We teamed up with Ford to bring you this one-of-a-kind expedition.
Visitors are drawn to Sedona for its first-rate hiking, mountain bike-friendly trails and the energy vortexes that many believe radiate the earth’s power—all of which combine to create the ultimate wellness retreat in the Arizona desert.
Hop in your entirely new 2018 Ford Expedition, as much of Sedona’s natural beauty can be seen from Highway 179, including red rock formations like Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. The Expedition’s lane-keeping assist¹ helps draw the driver’s attention back to the road as the sights awe you. Then head to Red Rock State Park to get a closer view.
The Munds Wagon Trail is a moderately difficult four-mile hike that provides stunning canyon vistas. Or throw your bikes in the back of the Expedition and use the available Cargo Management System to store your essentials while you head out to explore.
Lunch is just a short drive away at Mariposa, where chef Lisa Dahl serves Latin-inspired dishes like a quesadilla with roasted portobello mushrooms and Boca Negra, a flourless chocolate torte. Regulars also love the half-pound burgers.

Garlandʼs Navajo Rugs
Newly restored from a soul-nourishing lunch, head to Garland’s Navajo Rugs to shop for Native American crafts including rugs, pottery and jewelry.
Then head back to the Amara Resort & Spa, tucked along the banks of Oak Creek Canyon, to relax by the pool—or visit the spa for a signature Rain Dance massage with lavender, rosemary and sage oils.

Aumbase Yoga
After a leisurely afternoon at Amara, it’s time for some yoga. Aumbase Sedona offers a variety of classes inside their beautiful open-space studio that boasts a gorgeous vortex wall mural. The owners Marc and Heather Titus ran the Sedona Yoga Festival for five years before opening up this fully equipped studio.
Yoga Hikes
The couple also leads yoga hikes and vortex tours to help channel your higher self through meditation and personal reflection. The trips take visitors to some of the most scenic sites around the area to experience yoga at Red Rocks, as well as shamanic healing ceremonies and sound healing classes.
Pump House Station
Located next to a historic watering station (hence its name), this urban eatery offers daily specials full of fresh and organic ingredients. Grab a spot on the front or back patio or settle into a plush banquette near the coffee bar.
The starry desert skies above Sedona attract stargazers from around the world. Take it in from the comfort of your entirely new 2018 Expedition with its available Panoramic Vista Roof® with power open and close.
Elote Cafe
Elote Cafe is a must-visit for dinner, as chef Jeff Smedstad draws upon years traveling throughout Mexico and Arizona to create a soulful menu with dishes like Smoked Chicken Tamal, Lamb Adobo and Vegetable Relleno.
Art and design lovers should schedule in an afternoon to browse the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village for jewelry, art and home decor (fortunately the Expedition has loads of cargo space). Your first stop should be Kuivato Glass Gallery, which sells exquisite glassware and sculptures.
And don’t miss Events by Show Stoppers. This home decor and gift shop is owned by one of Sedona’s most successful event decorating companies and is full of their favorite design finds.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Yoga pants or workout shorts are a must-pack, since they can work double-duty as hiking gear or studio wear.
Since Sedona is in a desert, nighttime temperatures can be chilly year-round, so always pack a scarf and light jacket.
Amara Resort is a pet-friendly hotel, so feel free to bring along your familyʼs favorite fur-legged member.
Lane-Keeping System does not control steering. Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver's attention, judgement, and need to control the vehicle.
